According to multiple authors and sources, 2040 is the projected year that White Americans will no longer be in the majority. This series addresses white privilege, white superiority, blatant and submerged racism, institutional and structural racism, and issues faced daily by those who are not white. Art can get to the heart and substance of such issues and that is why I am committed to this journey.
The contrast in living quarters from those who were enslaved to the plantation owners and families was stark. Slave quarters adjacent to plantation mansions are still intact in the Southern United States as a reminder of the realities enslaved black people lived through. Fully built, this piece would be 9’6” High, 19’ Long and 22’ Wide. An averaged height person would feel the scale of moving through the interior space.
