The Beginning of the “Hope Series”
At the end of the first week of March 2020, I came down with flu-like symptoms. Headache, chills, nausea, aching muscles, and a dry cough, but only a very mild fever. Awareness of the Covid-19 Crisis was just beginning and the media announced that if you didn’t have a high fever, “don’t bother the hospitals!” These symptoms knocked me out to the point that I slept extra long, took naps and wheezed at night. It was the aching and breathing that took my energy and motivation. Over a five day period I began to get better and within two weeks I was nearly normal. The thing is, I haven’t had the flu in 15 years. I had my flu shot in the fall and I work out 5 days a week, consistently. As I neared recovery, I was motivated to start a series of paintings because I was so grateful to be alive! I decided to use a warm color palette (Yellow, Orange, and Red). I called it the “Hope Series”, and thus far there are 64 paintings completed.
Each painting is 10”x 10”x 1.5” Acrylic on Wood Panel. I like the small size since surfaces seem large and ambiguous as layers show through previous layers and create “Little Universes” due to their scale.
Purchasing Information
Several people have asked if they are for sale and the answer is yes. Each painting is priced at $250 which includes shipping and Washington State Sales Tax. In light of the hardship so many people are experiencing due to the Covid Crisis, a portion of each sale will be donated to help feed the homeless in Seattle.
I am also offering four payment plans: 1.) Full price, 2.) 2 monthly payments of $125 each, 3.) 5 monthly payments of $50 each, 4.) 10 monthly payments of $25 each. This is on the honor system. In 40 years several people have walked off with my artwork without paying for it. In these times, we need to trust one another.
