Persons of color often experience being relegated to the basement, with difficulty climbing to the higher floors of society. Systemic polarizing policies prevent people from positive options for their lives. This global phenomenon prevents many from financial, social, and even educational success due to what is institutionally in place. Meanwhile, those who are privileged enjoy the freedom and fruits of the highest rewards, earned or passed on. The towering scale of the 12’ high curved wall with a Penthouse space on the outside and a stairway up from the basement on the inside would affect the viewer as they have to humble themselves to get through the single door inside the basement space to get to the other side. Fully built, this would be 12’ High x 20’ Long and 18’ Wide.
