2040: Internal Impediments, 10"x 10"x 6" Mixed Media; 2022
Barriers, obstacles, and deterents experienced by people whose skin color is not white, is a reality that haunts humans globally. The opposite reality is complete freedom, beauty, and expansive possibilities. This maquette, when built full scale features a 20’ long wall that is 5’ high, allowing the viewer to see a gigantic dark hand struggling to find a hold on a ledge adjacent to barricades meant to control where one can go. The tallest wall would be 8’8” High x 21’ Long and 20’ Wide. Through imagery and color palette, the viewer feels the emotional impact of being a person of color.
