The Education of an Artist 1978 Wood. 24’x4’x 6’6” Linfield College, McMinnville, OR
Positioned in front of the Art Building at Linfield College, this piece alluded to two ways for an artist to gain their education. One is represented by the precariously narrow steps in front of the piece, where an artist can ascend through narrow insecure steps, while the other is 3 steps up to the Education experience and 3 additional steps to get onto the Art Ramp. Both ways, the artist must contend with an ascending ramp, implying different ways to enter the Art World.
